  • The Operating System of the computer must be updated.

Refreshing the DNS settings:

  • Press the Win key on the keyboard, type ‘Command’ without including the single quotes, and press the Enter key.
  • From the displayed search result, right-click the Command Prompt option and click the Run as Administrator option.
  • As soon as the Administrator Command Prompt window opens, type the ‘ipconfig/flushdns’ command without the quotes and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  • This will clear all the DNS information.
  • Once done, you will see the confirmation message in the Administrator Command Prompt window.
  • Now, the computer will find the new DNS information.

Disabling the network adapter:

  • You can perform any one of the methods given below to disable the network adapter.
  • Method 1 - Control panel
  • Navigate to the Settings window and click the Network & Security option followed by the Status option.
  • Go to the ‘Change your network settings’ section and select the Change adapter options option.
  • After you right-click your network adapter, choose the Disable option.
  • Method 2 - Device Manager
  • Right-click the Start icon, select the Device Manager option, and click the right arrow next to Network adapters.
  • Search for your network adapter, right-click it, and select the Disable device option to solve the Sophos error 80070057.

Method 3 - Command Prompt

  • Launch the Administrator Command Prompt window by right-clicking the Command Prompt option followed by selecting the Run as administrator option.
  • Type the ‘netsh interface show interface’ command in the Command Prompt window and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  • This will display your network adapter in the Command Prompt window.
  • Enter the ‘netsh interface set interface X disable’ command.
