How To Fix Sophos Error 3005?

The Sophos error 3005 occurs when you are trying to uninstall the Sophos Antivirus software. The error prompts up, showing the message that the Antivirus software can be uninstalled only by the SophosAdministrator user group members. The Antivirus software may stop in the middle of a scan and display the error message stating that Sophos has encountered a problem.

Carry out the steps that are given below to fix the Sophos error code 3005 occurring on your Windows computer.

  • You have to create an account in the Sophos Administrator group to uninstall the Antivirus software.
  • Press the Windows and R buttons together to launch the Run dialog box.
  • Enter “compmgmt.msc,” and click on the OK button.
  • When the Computer Management window appears, select the Local Users and Groups section to expand it.
  • Open the Sophos Administrator group.
  • If you don’t find the group, right-click on the Groups folder on the left panel and select New Group.
  • Type the Group name as Sophos Administrator. Then, click on the Create button.
  • Now, right-click on the Sophos Adminstrator group you have created, and select the properties option from the displayed list.
  • Add your user account to the group.
  • To check the group membership, open Command Prompt.
  • Type “cmd” in the Run dialog box to launch the Command Prompt window.
  • When prompted for the User Account Control access, click Yes.
  • Type “net localgroup sophos administrator /add” to find any existing groups.
  • If there is no group, the command has completed successfully message appears in the Command Prompt window.
  • If a group already exists, you will receive a message followed by “system error 1379.”
  • You can continue with the next step by adding your username.
  • Type “net localgroup sophos admistrator name /add.” You have to type your name in the command.
  • If your name already exists in the group, an error message will be displayed.
  • Type “net localgroup sophos administrator” to confirm your account.
  • You can now uninstall the Sophos Antivirus software easily. And hereafter you didn't face Sophos error 3005.
