Solution 1: Reinstall The Malwarebytes Software

  • Initially, download the Malwarebytes Support Tool.
  • After downloading the tool, open it with admin rights.
  • Accept the license agreement of the support tool.
  • Click the Advanced menu in the Malwarebytes Support Tool window.
  • Select Clean > Yes.
  • Once the software is removed, restart your computer.
  • After your computer restarts, reinstall the Malwarebytes software on your computer.
  • Make sure that the software is installed with admin rights.
  • After installing the software, check if the Malwarebytes unable to access update server issue persists.

Solution 2: Modify The Windows Firewall’s Outbound Rules

  • On your Windows computer, open the Windows Firewall Settings window.
  • In the opened window, click on the Outbound Rules tab.
  • Now, a list of outbound rules will appear on the screen.
  • Look for the rule named MBAM. You can find three rules named MBAM.
  • Now, select and right-click on one of the MBAM rules.
  • Click Properties > General and select the Allow the connection option under the Action.
  • Similarly, select the Allow the connection option for the remaining two MBAM rules.
  • Click OK and close the Windows Firewall window.
  • Now, try to update the Malwarebytes software on your computer.
