Open the AutoUpdate service file to update the Sophos Antivirus tool automatically. If the SophosSAU folder causes the problems, then proceed with the following procedure;

  • If the Autoupdate configuration is incorrect, log in to the endpoint account and select the Configure Updating option. Go ahead to input the required details for updating.
  • Verify whether the update location has any new updates, and update the Sophos version. In case the update location itself gets updated and the update components skip, use the endpoint account to update to the latest version.
  • The wrong updating address or incorrect password of the updating policy causes update component failure. Therefore, modify the Auto-update settings or the central updating policy.

Sometimes, the Sophos Antivirus does not update even with the internet connection. In such a case, disable the Auto-Update feature on Mac.

  • Click the Spotlight icon from the menu bar at the upper-right end.
  • Type “Activity Monitor” and press the Enter key. From the recommended results, choose the right option.
  • The Activity Monitor window opens up, check the processes that are running in the background.
  • Now, press the Option, Command, and Esc keys together to open the Force Quit Applications window.
  • Select the Sophos application name, which is auto-updating in the window and then click Force Quit.
  • Wait for a few minutes and update the Sophos application again.
