Solution 1: Enable The VPN Adapter On Your Windows Computer

  • First, restart your computer and connect to the Bitdefender VPN again.
  • If you have already connected to Wi-Fi, try connecting your computer to another Wi-Fi network using a standard Ethernet cable.
  • Click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  • Type ‘ncpa.cpL’ in the search panel and hit the Enter key to open the Network Connections window.
  • Give a right-click on the AnchorFree TAP-Windows Adapter V9 adapter and select the Enable option (if it has been disabled).
  • Try connecting to the Bitdefender VPN again.

Solution 2: Uninstall & Reinstall Bitdefender VPN

  • On your Windows 10 computer, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows + I shortcut keys.
  • Select Apps and locate the Bitdefender VPN software.
  • Click the Uninstall button and remove it from the Windows computer with the help of the on-screen prompts.
  • Once finished, reinstall Bitdefender VPN.
  • Once installed, launch the Bitdefender Total Security software and click the Privacy tab.
  • Open the VPN module by clicking the Open VPN button and check if the VPN error code 3 has been resolved.

  • Launch the Control Panel app and click the Network and Internet tab.

  • Next, click the Networking tab and select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  • Click the Properties button and enable the Use the following DNS server addresses radio button.
  • Type 8.8.8.8 in the Preferred DNS server field and enter 8.8.4.4 in the Alternate DNS server field.
  • Click OK to apply the change in settings and restart your computer.
  • This will fix the Bitdefender VPN error code 3 on your computer.
