If you have the Avast Antivirus software installed on your computer, you must keep it updated in order to protect your Windows computer from the latest threats. If you are not able to update the Avast Antivirus program to the most recent version, carry out the below steps to change Avira firewall settings to resolve that issue.

Updating Windows

  • First, launch the Avira Premium Security Suite on your computer.
  • Next, on the left pane, click the Online protection option. When you click it, the list will expand to show the MailGuard, WebGuard, and FireWall options.
  • Now, please click the FireWall option.
  • In the window that displays next, you will find that the Security level is set to High. Please change it to Medium. Next, from the menu bar at the top, select Extras.
  • A short list of options will now appear. From these options, choose Configuration.
  • On the screen that displays next, on the left pane, you can see the title, Expert mode.
  • Under Expert mode, you will see many options. Now, click the FireWall option to expand the list.
  • From this list, select the Application rules option.
  • In the main window called, FireWall > Application rules, you can allow certain settings. Choose Internet Explorer and check if its Action is set to Deny. If yes, change it from Deny to Allow.
  • Next, select the Firefox browser and check its corresponding Action. In case it is set to Deny, alter it to Allow.
  • Next, click on the Apply button to apply all the changes that you have made to the settings.
  • Finally, click on the OK button.
  • You are done!
