A firewall is a feature that helps you to monitor Internet traffic and blocks unauthorized access. To stay protected from unknown access, always keep the Firewall option turned ON. The AVG Internet Security application offers the Firewall feature. You can set the network profile (Private or Public) of your desire and configure the AVG firewall settings for each firewall mode.

Network Profile:

  • Private: In this profile, you can add all trusted networks.
  • Public: Networks that are publicly shared comes under this profile.

The other firewall options offered by the AVG Internet Security application are listed below.

Specify Default Rules:

  • Auto-decide
  • Allow
  • Block
  • Ask

Policy Preferences:

  • Show notification about newly created allow rules
  • Show notification about newly created block rules
  • Internet Connection Sharing mode
  • Allow all connections with Friends when in Private mode

How To Enable The Firewall Option?

  • Open the Start menu.
  • Select the AVG Internet Security application.
  • On the main screen of the application, click the Firewall tab.
  • Select the Change option beside Firewall mode.
  • Click the checkbox beside the Turn Firewall protection off (not recommended) option.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now, go back to the Firewall screen and enable the AVG Firewall option again by selecting Automatic mode.

If you have installed AVG on your computer, then when you try to run CTI Navigator Desktop or CTIUpdateManager over the Internet, you may be prompted to select an option to allow or block the process. In this case, you may need to develop a Firewall Rule in the AVG antivirus software to allow the CTI Navigator Desktop program. To do so, follow the instructions given below.

  • Open the AVG application on your computer.
  • On the main screen window, click Firewall.
  • Click the gear icon and select the Advanced settings option.
  • Go to the Applications menu.
  • Look for the CTI Navigator program in the Application section. If you can’t find it, click the Add button and follow the prompts displayed on the screen.
  • If the CTI program is listed, select it and click the Edit button.
  • Set the Action mode as Allow.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now, try to access the CIT program over the Internet. If you need a remote assistance to configure AVG firewall settings, click the call button.
