 Acronis Error Code 41

While performing an update or upgrade, the default value of the Number of Simultaneous VM Backups setting could be 0. Also, the error code 41 occurs along with it. This will affect machine backups.

This error occurs in the following situations.

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10/11/11.5 is updated to version 11.7
  • Trying to run the older backup plans that are not on the list
  • After an upgrade, the backup plans fail with an error message in the logs

In general, this error will be resolved in the future updates of Acronis. However, perform the following simple workaround to resolve the Acronis error code 41.

Step 1

Open the Acronis Management Console.

Step 2

  • Deselect the options listed below.
  • Default backup and recovery options
  • Default Backup options
  • Simultaneous VM Backups

Step 3

Click the OK button.

Step 4

  • Return to the Acronis Management Console.
  • Select the Simultaneous VM Backups option.

Step 5

  • Navigate to the Number of simultaneous backups field and type 2.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now, all the newly created backups will run without any problem.

If you want to use the already existing backup plans, proceed with the following quick steps.

Step 1

  • First, export the already existing backup plan as an XML file.
  • Note: You can delete the old backup file to avoid confusion.

Step 2

  • Open the exported file in Notepad.

Step 3

Go to the following section.

Step 4

Replace 0 with 2 and save the exported XML file.

Step 5

  • Once it is done, import the newly saved XML file as a backup plan in Acronis Backup.
